Infectious Disease
Infectious Disease
The Division of Infectious Diseases offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment of the wide variety of illnesses caused by infection with bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Infectious diseases consultants assist referring physicians with the management of life-threatening, chronic, or perplexing infections in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Division members also provide expertise on infection control and the appropriate use of antibiotics within the hospital.
Members of the Division of Infectious Diseases also conduct research on the mechanisms of infectious diseases, the prevention of disease transmission, and novel antibiotic therapies. The faculty and fellows also see patients in the HIV Center, Galter Pavilion, Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

HIV Center
The HIV Center provides comprehensive assessments and medical treatment for persons with HIV. Services include consultation with the patient's personal physician, social work services, pharmacist medication teaching, nutritional counseling, clinical drug studies, home care coordination, and referrals for psychiatric, dental, and legal services. A comprehensive specialized program for HIV-infected women also includes obstetrical and gynecological care. The HIV Center also conducts numerous HIV clinical trials. General Internal Medicine
The General Internal Medicine Clinic provides comprehensive medical care for adults. This includes evaluating new problems, caring for chronic diseases, advising you on preventive care such as cancer screening tests, and providing advice about diet and exercise that can help you stay healthy. We also coordinate our patients' care with other specialists when needed, including medical subspecialties and surgery. We are committed to caring for you as a person and making sure you always get the best health care possible.
