Neurological Surgery
The Department of Neurological Surgery ranks among the nation's leading centers of neurosurgical patient care, teaching and research. The most modern equipment and techniques to achieve the finest quality of care for patients with all aspects of neurosurgical illness.
The Neurosurgery Department features internationally recognized cerebrovascular and endovascular programs for the surgical treatment of stroke, brain aneurysms, brain or spinal vascular malformations, and other blood vessel-related problems; one of the most advanced integrated spinal surgery and disease programs in the nation; a state-of-the-art neurosurgical oncology program; a leading-edge neuromodulation and functional neurosurgery program to treat movement disorders, epilepsy and chronic pain; and a comprehensive pediatric neurosurgery program for the treatment of infant and childhood neurological conditions and syndromes.
Neurology
The Department of Neurology provides treatment for a full range of neurological disorders. Our physicians are faculty members of Northwestern University Medical School who provide care for patients and conduct clinical research as well. The clinical mission of the Department is to provide the highest quality care and treatment for patients with neurological disorders, while advancing new therapies and uncovering the causes and cures of neurological diseases. Our physicians have areas of subspecialty interest in neurology and many of them are national leaders in their field. The subspecialty clinics provide care for Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple sclerosis, epilepsy/seizures, stroke, sleep disorders, neuromuscular disorders, Parkinson's and other movement disorders. The majority of these specialty clinics have multidisciplinary teams incorporating the services of psychologists, physical, occupational, and speech therapists, as well as social workers. The clinical practice operates in conjunction with the Neuro Testing Center which provides a full spectrum of neurodiagnostic services.
Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences offers comprehensive consultation, diagnosis and treatment of a full range of adult and older adult mental health disorders. Inpatient and outpatient treatment offered. Psychiatric subspecialties in addiction, geriatrics, and forensics are also offered.
Vascular Surgery
The Division of Vascular Surgery at the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute of Northwestern at Northwestern Medical Group provides diagnosis and treatment for diseases and disorders of the peripheral arteries, veins and lymphatic system. Vascular Surgery also oversees a noninvasive vascular laboratory to diagnose all peripheral vascular disease. In addition, the division specializes in minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of aortic aneurysms and peripheral arterial disease.
Clinics associated with the Division of Vascular Surgery include the Vascular Surgery Clinic, Thoracic Aortic Surgery Clinic, Lipid Disorder/Metabolic Syndrome Clinic, Limb Preservation Clinic, and the Vein Center. These multidisciplinary clinics are staffed by physicians from different specialties rendering expert opinions that benefit patients.
Vascular Surgery, along with Cardiology, Cardiac Behavioral Medicine and Cardiac Surgery, cares for patients in an outstanding healing environment as part of the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute.
